Frequently Asked Questions

How will I know that my application has been successfully submitted?

Once you have applied, you will receive an email acknowledgment of your application. From this point forward, your application will be reviewed by a member of our Talent Acquisition team.

How long before I receive feedback on my application?

We aim to provide feedback as soon as possible, but timescales can vary depending on the volume of applicants, length of the interview process, availability of hiring managers, and occasionally logistical barriers.

We aim to contact candidates to inform them of our decisions, even if we are not progressing with an application. However, on occasions where we receive a very high number of applications for a role, it is not always possible to provide individual feedback. If you have not heard from us within two weeks of sending your application, please assume your application has been unsuccessful

What do you look for when you review my application?

As part of the process, we will look at whether you meet the criteria for the role. We’ll also take a closer look at your CV, skills, and experience and how you have answered your application form questions.

I am interested in more than one role at Progeny. Can I apply for more than one opportunity?

Yes, you are more than welcome to apply for more than one role if you believe your skills and experience match more than one opportunity with us. Please make our talent team aware of this by emailing talent@theprogenygroup.com; this will help the team avoid duplicating any steps in the process and ensure things run as smoothly as possible.

I wasn’t invited to the next stage of the recruitment process. Can I get feedback on my application?

Due to the high volume of applications, we receive for positions, we are unable to provide feedback at application stage. However, if you are short-listed, progress in the campaign, and are subsequently unsuccessful, you can request feedback at that point from your recruitment contact.

What is the format of the interviews at Progeny?

After an initial telephone conversation, the hiring manager interview is your opportunity to provide even more detail about your skills, experience, and suitability for the role you are applying for. In addition to the hiring manager, there will also be a second interviewer who will be there to ask you questions and answer any questions you might have about working in the Progeny team.

Our interviews generally include competency-based questions and may include some scenario-based questions that allow the hiring manager to assess your suitability for the role.

Do you have any tips to help me prepare for my interview?

To ensure you are ready for your interview, we suggest that you:

  • Take time to look at the work we do at Progeny and review the job description.
  • Familiarise yourself with your CV and experience you would like to highlight to the interviewers.
  • Think about how to best structure your answers and provide supportive examples from your experience. When it comes to answering competency-based questions, it can be helpful to review the STAR Method to help you answer these questions effectively.
  • Allow plenty of time to get to your interview and check in advance of the location.

My interview is virtual. What else do I need to prepare for?

In addition to preparing for the questions in your interview, if your interview is virtual you will need to make sure you’re set up correctly. To ensure all goes without a glitch, we suggest you:

  • Make sure you are in a quiet setting with a neutral and professional background.
  • Have a stable internet connection that allows you to use your camera during the interview.
  • Be ready to start the call between 5-10 minutes ahead of the scheduled time.
  • Test your internet connection and that you have the correct links before attending your interview.

How should I dress for my interview?

For both virtual and face-to-face interviews, make sure to wear smart business attire.

My degree is not in Finance – should I still apply?

If we require a specific degree in Finance for a role, we will include the details on the advert and job description. If we are not specific about the degree qualification we need for a role, we welcome qualifications from different disciplines.
